The evolution of the Dainese Smart Jacket, the new Smart Air is an innovative airbag system that can easily be worn over or under any outfit owing to its new minimal concept design that makes it incredibly lightweight, ergonomic and convenient for everyday use.
Smart Air is extremely protective, as it integrates the revolutionary D-air®Road system on chest and back and owing to its exceptional lightness is also extraordinarily comfortable to wear.
The Smart Air’s has a long service life, and requires minimal maintenance. The Road Shield 3X internal airbag is rated for 3 activations before requiring replacement. This can be done by Motomail or any Dainese Service Centre, worldwide. The gas cannister requires replacement after each activation, and this can easily be done by the user, meaning there is no service delay following an activation.
Level 2 certified chest and back airbag and a rechargeable battery boasting up to 12 hours of use from a full charge.

To further expand the range of applications, a new algorithm for off-road use has been introduced.
Via the D-air® App, users will be able to select the algorithm to load onto the device as an alternative to the existing Road Mode, which is designed for on-road and light off-road use.
Offroad mode, Smart Air must be used exclusively off-road.

In Road mode, the system is armed and ready to deploy the airbag if either of the two following conditions occurs:
In Off-road mode, the airbag is armed and ready to deploy only at speeds above 20 km/h.
A new Electric Vehicle Mode feature has been introduced.
Five seconds after the On/Off button is released, the device is armed, providing protection at speeds above 10 km/h, even for vehicles that do not produce vibrations.
This feature can be enabled using the button in the settings menu labelled with the EV Mode icon.
The Electric Vehicle Mode feature will only be available after the D-air® device firmware has been updated as requested by the app via a notification.
If the device remains motionless for more than 30 seconds, it disarms itself.
When this happens, the LED on the user interface returns to an unblinking blue light.
The device remains off until no movement is detected for at least 5 seconds.
The EV Mode feature also allows customers who have previously had difficulty getting their device to detect vehicle vibrations to keep the system armed.
EV mode can be used with all riding modes.
Please note that EV mode does not automatically disarm the system when the motorcycle is turned off. To disarm the system, you must turn off the device using the On/Off button.
